چکیده

This paper present the investigation of possible causes incessant road failure associated with subgrade soils Niger delta using mineralogical and geotechnical properties assessment. Geotechnical revealed clayey sand form bulk composed generally fine to medium grains low intermediate plasticity. Based on AASHTO soil classifies as A-2 A-6 granular being dominant. The average values obtained for California Bearing Ratio (CBR), maximum dry density (MDD), optimum-moisture-content (OMC) shear strength are 19%, 1726 kg/m3, 15.70% 286 KPA respectively. angle friction ranged from 180 250 indicates high presence sand. X-ray diffraction analyses reveal absence expandable clay mineral. Collapse potential 1.3 10.8% indicating slight severe collapse. High amount settlement field observation intense collapsible, particularly when inundated under poor drainage conditions. Thus, failures observed in study a result inherent design relative Region peculiar geomorphological climatic

some properties of fuzzy hilbert spaces and norm of operators

in this thesis, at first we investigate the bounded inverse theorem on fuzzy normed linear spaces and study the set of all compact operators on these spaces. then we introduce the notions of fuzzy boundedness and investigate a new norm operators and the relationship between continuity and boundedness. and, we show that the space of all fuzzy bounded operators is complete. finally, we define...

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in sediments and soils from oil exploration areas of the Niger Delta, Nigeria.

The distribution of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in sediments from rivers and canals adjoining some oil exploration sites in the Niger Delta and surface soils from host communities were examined. The concentrations of 28 target PAHs ranged from 65 to 331 ng/g (average: 168 ng/g) and from 24 to 120 ng/g (average: 80 ng/g) in the sediment and soil samples, respectively. Two-ring PAHs w...

Radioactivity of surface soils from Oyo state, South Western Nigeria

Background: The activity concentrations of some radionuclides in soil samples collected from 20 locations in 8 major towns in Oyo State, Southwestern Nigeria have been determined by gamma-ray spectrometry technique. Materials and Methods: The activity concentrations were determined using high-purity germanium (HPGe) detector (Canberra Industries Inc.). The outdoor absorbed dose rates in air at ...

Occurrence of shale soils along the Calabar-Itu highway, Southeastern Nigeria and their implication for the subgrade construction

This study concerned a stretch of 17 km of a 94-km highway alignment in Southeastern Nigeria that has a high incidence of pavement failure arising from subgrade failure. The subgrade of this section of the roadway is composed of Ekenkpon shale, New Netim marl, and Nkporo shale. Under the Unified Soil Classification System, the shales classify as OH (organic clay) and the marl classifies as MH (...
